Las Vegas, Nevada

Ernest M. Fountain, MBA was born in Tallulah, Louisiana where he attended Wright Elementary, and McCall Jr. and Sr. High School. His family migrated to the west coast in 1966 moving to Las Vegas, Nevada where he experienced his first taste of integration. Although he did not graduate from his hometown school, he credits the African American teachers in that education system for his positive self-esteem and his strong will and motivation to achieve. While attending Las Vegas High School, where he graduated, he met the first African American school counselor for the Clark County School District, Mrs. Charlotte Cook, who guided him to Texas Southern University, where he graduated with an undergraduate degree in business management with a minor in banking and finance in May 1976.

Mr. Fountain began his career in banking in June 1976 with Bank of Nevada eventually joining Valley Bank of Nevada as a management trainee becoming one of the first African American loan officers in the state of Nevada. During his tenure there, he continued his studies through the American Institute of Banking and was awarded an associate's degree in banking and finance in 1980. In 1981, he began work with the Nevada Economic Development Company where he met his mentor, William H. “Bob” Bailey, who operated the Las Vegas Minority Business Development Center funded by the Minority Business Development Agency. It is here where his passion was developed and cultivated to serve his people and fight for economic parity. During his tenure there he was awarded a master's degree in business administration from National University (San Diego) in 1988.

Ernest M. Fountain is the co-founder of New Ventures Capital Development Company (NVCDC) that has been certified by the Small Business Administration since 1984 to make loans under the 504 capital asset program. NVCDC has loaned over $120 million to small businesses since its inception into the program with 75% directed toward minority firms, which is the largest percentage in the nation. NVCDC is in fact the only African American-owned CDC in the country certified to participate in the program. The firm has assisted thousands of businesses and arranged over a billion dollars in financing since its origin. NVCDC currently operates the Nevada Minority Business Enterprise Center funded by the Minority Business Development Agency/U.S. Department of Commerce.

Ernest M. Fountain is the past president and co--founder of Enterprise Community Federal Credit Union, co-founder of the Black Business Council, the majority owner of the first Black Texaco station domicile in Nevada, and a formal real estate and insurance agent.

Last, but certainly not least, he was ordained as a minister of the gospel by his spiritual father Bishop A. J. Thompson in April 2004. To all of his accomplishments he gives all the honor and praise to the Father and to the Savior of the world Jesus Christ.
